A MountainView Manor Wedding | Katie & Kyle

MountainView Manor Wedding in Glen Spey, NY | NY Wedding Photographer | Delaware Water Gap + Hudson Valley Wedding Venue

Most people who are searching for a Delaware Water Gap or Hudson Valley wedding venue limit their searches to venues near the Hudson River. The truth is, there are so many lovely venues with that Upstate New York wedding venue feel, but that take a bit more hunting to find. MountainView Manor in the little hamlet of Glen Spey, New York, is one such venue.

Katie spent weekends in summer in the area, so it made sense for the family to gather in Glen Spey for her wedding to Kyle. We even got to go boating in the lake boat for adventure engagement photos the year before!

Unlike The Highlands Country Club wedding venue, The Garrison, or Red Maple Vineyard (all of which are quite beautiful!), MountainView Manor is more toned-down and simple: It’s also a rare Hudson Valley wedding venue that is dedicated only to weddings and events. 1 at at time. No golf course, no vineyard, no fuss. This New York wedding venue is a quaint, rustic, affordable space. And as they point out on their website, http://mvmanor.com/, they aren’t a wedding factory or a banquet hall with three weddings going on at once.

They dedicate their team to your day, and that’s part of what Katie and Kyle liked about the place. This couple hired me to photograph their uber-fun engagement photos and wedding, and during their engagement session even introduced me to their dog, Boomer!

Katie and Kyle were a dream to work with: Laid-back, ready to party, and gung-ho for any cool photos! We got to use the entire property and Ardsmore Mansion for everything: Getting ready, first look, ceremony, portraits, and reception.

Not all wedding venues are the same!

There’s so much space that it never felt crowded, and not having to go to multiple venues means you save on time and stress. Katie & Kyle chose to have their wedding ceremony on the lawn to the side of the Ardsmore Mansion. This is a common area to have it, though you can have your ceremony held on the steps OR facing away from it (as these two did).

..and we made time for creative wedding photos!

Did I mention how cool-as-cucumbers Katie and Kyle were? We even did experimental shots at the end, where I got one of my all-time most creative wedding photos (IMHO?). Any guesses as to how we did this?

But back to the wedding: Kyle waited patiently as his bride-to-be got ready upstairs in the Ardsmore Mansion, and after some bridal portraits on their cool staircase, it was time for their first look. The couple had chosen a unique part of the property—a tall, abandoned building close to the main buildings—for their first look. After their grins, their nerves left and Katie showed Kyle her custom dog socks (remember their dog Boomer I mentioned earlier?) under her boots (yes, cowboy boots!), we did their portraits, wedding party photos, and family photos.

Next was a laughter AND tear-filled ceremony. After their cocktail hour and intros, they had dinner, their DIY photobooth, dinner, and fun night portraits. And I mean…I think I had more fun than you’d expect a photographer would have while working!

Did I mention how wild their family got with partying? I’m pretty sure the photos are self-explanatory. Another good thing about MountainView Manor: There aren’t really nearby homes and the property is fairly secluded, so if the music is loud…no one is going to complain!

While not an over-the-top NY wedding venue, MountainView Manor is an affordable New York wedding venue perfect for a low-key, DIY, or classic rustic wedding with all the touches you want. It’s also located just minutes from the Pennsylvania AND New Jersey borders, as well as Port Jervis, New York. Plus, MountainView Manor is under 2 hours from NYC!

There are beautiful drives along the Delaware Water Gap right nearby, so take the scenic route on your way here—especially during fall, when the whole Poconos and surrounding regions light up with amazing fall colors. Kyle and Katie had such a lovely, low-stress wedding—something most couples can’t say! Pick a wedding venue that allows you to relax, enjoy your day, and spend time with the people you care most about. Photos and credit below.
