Fall in New York can’t be beat, and Nick & Erin’s autumnal Paramount Country Club wedding was just about perfect

A Beautiful Fall Wedding at Rockland County’s Paramount Country Club
There’s nothing quite like the Northeast in the fall, and Erin and Nick’s Paramount Country Club wedding allowed us to snag some beautiful fall colors and gorgeous weather on their day, which came about in a quite unusual way.
An Unusual Re-Meeting
Nick and Erin actually met and dated while at the University of Scranton. Their invite was even a college-era photo from when they dated!
After their college years, they went their separate ways and life happened. Then, during the pandemic, Erin had a rare scare: Her carbon monoxide detector went off one night, alerting her to a leak in the house and essentially saving her life. She posted about it on her social media, reminding people to install carbon monoxide detectors and check them frequently. Nick, who had been following her for a while, had a thought suddenly cross his mind: What if she didn’t have a detector, and he’d never reached out again?
Well, that was the push he needed, so he got in touch and shared his thoughts. They started dating again, went through some extraordinarily difficult family losses, and realized how important they were to each other. He proposed; we did their fun engagement photos right where they’d dated all those years ago.
About Paramount Country Club
If the Paramount name is familiar to you, you’re right—it is indeed the same Paramounts. The founder, Adolph Zukor, purchased the property at the end of World War 1. Though he was a media legend already, he wanted a quiet location with a small farm (and at the time of purchase, a small 9-hole golf mini-course).
Who has stood on these grounds? No less than Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gabel, the Prince of Wales, and many more.
Zukor, the found of Paramount Studios and Paramount Pictures, wanted his small farm north of New York City to have some visitors and golfers, so he worked with course designer Albert Warren Tillinghast to create a massive double golf course.
Zukor sold the farm after World War 2, and after many iterations and owners, it is today Paramount Country Club, a beautiful private club where anyone can host a wedding. In fact, Erin and Nick played a round here a few weeks before their wedding!
Paramount is located just 36 miles from midtown Manhattan. Despite the name of its town–New City–there is no city to speak of, with just trees, mountains, and golf greens as far as the eye can see. It truly is a unique slice of property so close to NYC.

The Wedding Day
Fall in Rockland County on Nick & Erin’s October wedding day was absolutely perfect. On Erin’s side, the wedding day started in their apartment. After getting ready, Erin did a beautiful first look with her father, and then we headed to their old church.
They did a full Catholic Mass and afterwards, took photos in the empty church.
Finally, a moment I’d been waiting for—when the sun hit just right and came in the stained glass—happened. I had Erin stand in front of the spot, and took one of my favorite photos of the entire day.

Portraits Around the Paramount Country Club Golf Course
We got to Paramount Country Club in the afternoon, just before sunset, and got driven around the golf course following wedding party photos. A few deer even made an appearance while we were taking golden hour portraits! But perhaps my favorite outdoor shot was at the very end, when the dip they’d reportedly practiced paid off, showing off this beautiful couple and all the fall leaves in their glory.
After indoor/outdoor cocktail hour with SO much food, plus games in the outdoor area (even a putting green!), it was party time. The dance floor was definitely on fire, with a lot of space for everyone to dance, party, chat, use the flower wall for photos, etc.
The Wedding Space at Paramount Country Club
That’s definitely one of the best parts of Paramount Country Club: the space. The golf course and venue sit on a large piece of land that’s set in amongst forests, plains, and the Ramapo Mountains—an unusual rock outcropping as seen from the courtyard near the main club buildings. You definitely never feel cramped whether outside or inside, because there’s just so much space.
For cocktail hour at Paramount, you not only have the whole bar/dining room, but also the main foyer, the outdoor tent, and ample outdoor space as well.
Unlike with many country clubs, an event or wedding at Paramount Country Club can take place in the lovely spaces that do NOT put you at risk of being hit by a stray golf ball. Because they own the entire large property, there are spaces all around that are quite pretty, and safe. Plus, there are dedicated staff to drive you around to the different spots on the golf course, and to make sure that the coast is clear without interrupting others’ games.
Their Paramount Country Club wedding reception went long into the night, and I’m quite sure you’ve never seen a couple beaming more brightly at 12AM than these two~
