As a creative wedding photographer & adventure elopement photographer, 2021 was unable to throw a wrench into all the awesome celebrations I captured!

We made it through 2021, y’all!

As a full-time creative wedding photographer and adventure elopement photographer, 2021 turned out to be more successful than I imagined—thanks to my wonderful clients. As a year, 2021 gave us a run for our money. We had highs and lows. We thought COVID would disappear for good (hope?), but with Delta and Omicron, it came back with a vengeance.

Okay okay, let’s get to the good stuff: COOL WEDDINGS AND ELOPEMENTS.

2021 was the year of Yosemite, and the year of awesome backyard weddings. Lots of couples eloped or hiked for their weddings, and many others said, “Screw you, COVID. I’m HAVING my big wedding!” – direct quote from many of my clients.”

Despite the challenges of photographing weddings in a mask and sometimes even hiking in a mask, I made it through with frequent testing (to keep both me and my clients safe) and lots of KN-95s.

There was rain, sleet, snow, cars getting stuck in mud, waking up at 3 a.m., hiking in the dark, and so much more. But hey…my clients were all happy, and that’s what matters.

Many of my personal favorite moments came from sunrise or sunset hikes with adventurous clients. The multi-day wedding weekends I was invited to document were super amazing, and everyone’s families were so darn welcoming. As a destination wedding photographer, the destinations were still thin due to travel restrictions…but then again, I got to make pizza, camp, get on a bunch of boats for on-the-water sessions, and more with other clients of mine, so it wasn’t all bad!

Destination wedding photography? There was some, despite a pandemic.

In 2021, I got to travel and/or photograph weddings in Iceland, Jordan, the U.S. Virgin Islands, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, New Jersey, Utah, and of course California. I also go to see my parents and brothers for the first time in far too long—thanks, coronavirus.

All this to say, I was able to capture couples in some darn beautiful locations, and really tried for some of my usual, unusual, unique images. As a creative wedding photographer, I always strive to capture photos that capture my clients’ personalities—and then some!

As an inclusive, LGBTQ+ wedding photographer who welcomes ALL types of couples and has a large number of incredible LGBT clients, I was happy to see more publications be inclusive. This year, we saw tons of companies feature couples who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, neurodivergent, BIPOC, disabled, veterans, and more. Case in point: Fearless Photographers and their “Love is Love” feature (which I have photos featured in!).

The Tourism Board of Lake George reached out about using one of my photos, and printed it on postcards that are currently being distributed.

In addition to my creative photos, I love capturing moments, and 2021 had so many great ones. Tons of surprise proposals, tears, amazing first looks, joy, nervousness, adventure, and so much more.

These are some of my favorite moments as a wedding photojournalist!

Light, shadow, mirrors, filters, glow sticks, dogs, hammocks, boats, amazing sunsets, and cliffs were all amazing parts of my proposals, engagements, and weddings.

I hope you love these creative images, and I can’t wait to hear which your favorite is. Here’s to an even better, healthier 2022 and 2023 (which is already booking up crazy fast!

Happy New Year!~
